LOL at people thinking welders can afford a few hundred thousand in cars, all at the same time.

I paid for college as a welder/pipefitter.

Really, doing what? I know a couple guys that do offshore underwater work, and they are the highest paid weldors I know and make 180k or so. I have been in this trade for a while and must be aloof to a niche position.

Lmao huh..........I used to be a rig weldor. And know dozens of guys that still are. In colorado we made up to $70 per hour, in Texas never over $60. Many times we had to work for $45 when it got slow, if there was work at all. You provide your own truck, tools, rods, consumables, etc. At $60 per hour you would have to work 80 hours per week every week of the year to make $250K. That doesn't nearly happen, and even if it did, the amount of overhead you have on yourself cuts that number down dramatically. There is a reason I now own a fab. shop and dont do that anymore. So dont talk out of your ***.

Dude 70$ n hour isnt top pay for a rig welder lol. 45 is the low. N theres several companies out there that pay for ur consumables but u pay ur own tools. But the rig welding business is going out the window.
