Mine just went out last week also. A Guy at work told me to use a paperclip to jump the connection on the passenger side. If its low on frion the compressor wont kick on because the sensor wont let it. I tried that still doesn't engage

I would suspect a blower motor resistor! That is always the first thing to go out. And to test and see if the blower is still good put power to it and if it runs the its prolly just the resistors.

I replaced the original compressor on my 95' Camaro two years ago... still working good.
Still have the original compressor on our 95' F-250, still going strong.
I have the original compressor on my 95' Nissan Hardbody, still works.
Someone is doing something wrong. Sounds like cheap parts.

if a new compressor is installed but isnt oiled properly or vacuumed to get the moisture out it will destroy the compressor pretty quick
about the blower check the blower resistors they are known to go bad my wifes car didnt have setting 1 for awhile then 2 and 3 went bad so i finally replaced hers

my compressor also went out i have only had the car about two months. was driving down the highway heard a clank, a/c got warm so i turned off the a/c. Turned the a/c back on and started smoking, turned it off and was fine. The car never overheated though. just replaced the compressor last night. I saw in another thread to check your orface tube to make sure nothing else was going on and to also replace the dryer, and orface tube at the same time. cost me about $290 in parts at auto zone and around 5 hours of work. Seems like alot of F-body guys have compressor problems...
