Service Engine Light

Service Engine Light
So the Service engine light came on... I took it to advance and had them run the codes because I have to get it inspected to transfer the title from Cali to Texas. The codes were... 2 of same code for small evap leak and 1 code for rear wheel speed sensor. It is a 2000 M6 T/A with T/C. Any ideas would be appreciated. I need to get it fixed fast so there are no penalties from the tax office. I have tried the auto parts stores and none of them carry the rear wheel speed sensor, at least not under that part name. Thanks in advance.

the speed sensor is on top of the rearend left side. easly to remove cause ther is only one bolt to remove and inspect. it is a magnetic type so you could have some impending failure on your rearend. other words some metal shavings can abstruct the continuity of the magnet to teeth from the ring gear. evap leak is usually from gas cap seal.

I would inspect the speed sensor (may also be called vehicle speed sensor) and if nothing visually there then would replace it. As for the evap leak it could be gas cap seal, vent solenoid failure, or purge solenoid failure. Those are the most common issues with evap leaks besides a leaking hose!

that way you don't have to fix the stupid evap garbage and shouldn't ever have to worry about it setting another code in the future. Minus whale also get the other emissions stuff deleted as well.
I would also try and clean the sensor because that might work but it might have something to do with your axles being messed up though. Aren't you the guy that had problems with them?
