Default Smog question, engine swaps

I live in Austin (Williamson County). So, let's say I want to swap a 97 LT1 into a 98+ V6 car. All the LT1 smog equipment would remain (unless I could get away with removing it).

Would this be difficult to get smogged? Is there some special paperwork I would have to file? Or would I be destined to finding a "friendly" smog shop?

And please, don't say "Just put an LS1 in it". Thanks for any advice.

Go to the jiffy lube in RR by walmart/close to 35 (louis henna). I used to take my car there when I lived in RR. Most of those guys there don't know their *** from a hole in the ground. As to the legalities, I really can't speak to that.
