Damn man; get off the Girls ***... If she does not feel like taking the car to a big name shop, that it her decision to make. As you put it, there is a lot of “Shade Tree” mechanics that do just as good if not better work than the ‘Elite” shops. If she wants the car to sit till she has the time/money to get it fixed, again it is her decision.

At lease she is willing to work on her own car unlike other girls that are scared to get their hands dirty.

I did not suggest a big name shop, I was making a statement in regards to her saying she didn't trust anyone to work on her car, but most places if they are any good stand behind their work. Sure, if she wants to do it herself, more power to her, but it is always a good idea to know what you are doing before you start a venture like that. I was trying to make a valid point, but i'll take my stfu pill and not say anything....

Just pull the battery whenever you have a chance and take it and get it tested. If you lived closer or if I didn't work all the time, I'd be able to help you get your car fixed up. Move closer!

If you can get it to Auto Zone they usually change batteries for No Charge. If you bring your car here I will personally show you how to change it yourself so you never have to ask someone again. (BTW, I am a woman owner-racer so I can relate)

Auto Repair shops have a bad rap = That's why our slogan is "Reinventing service in the auto industry". We understand some shops do nothing but take people's money and damage their cars, but we are nothing like that. We guarantee our work, and even don't mind showing you why a certain repair is needed, etc. I even do follow-up calls with every customer. Like I said, "Reinventing the service". I know we will be around for years to come since we have good work ethics. Not all shops are bad - Let us know if we can assist you.

A women working on her car is so sexy. It really sounds like a bad battery if it is the alternator I have a extra one you can have no charge. Did you ever get the parts you needed for that clutch problem?

Like others said start with the battery, then when/if you get it changed check the output of the alternator. Gotta make sure it's putting out the right amperage and not going out thus draining even more life outta your battery.

There is alot of good knowledge on tech, but I find it ironic you bitch about shade tree mechanics and ask of advice on a forum. I am almost positive you don't know a lot of these people and there automotive qualifications. A lot of these guys learn via wrenching on there own cars and investigating there problem. You may want do some investigating on your own about the issue, before asking others.

Affordable autoworks was trying to help, they are good people. Being sarcastic helps your cause.

Bikini battery diagnosis anyone.....

Google is a fun tool that can help you possibly diagnose and fix problems, Hell it may even tell you where to find the master cylinder. Just saying........

Good luck on getting your fixed

You can also take a volt meter to the battery terminals in your driveway.

Turned off you should see 12.7v or higher with the car on you should see 13.5v or more.
