what method did you use to clean it? i'm hesitant to just hose off my engine bay, as i dont want to short out any wiring.

I wash mine on occasion when I'm going to shows, and have never had any issues with anything shorting out. I let the motor cool, spray it with a 50/50 dilluted mix of simple green, let it sit a few mins., then start the car and use a medium pressure of water to rinse it all off, then get the leaf blower and dry everything off....

I paid my friend to do it! We first sprayed the whole engine bay down with degreaser, then we let it sit for approx. 10 minutes, after that we sprayed then engine bay down with a pressure washer (being extremely careful that we didn't spray directly on the computer), then we wiped the entire engine bay down with a few wash rags, after that we used Armor All Original Protectant over the entire engine bay (even the underside of the hood) and we shut the hood and let it sit for about 15 minutes. Also as I was driving home the protectant started burning off of the heads and headers so If you see smoke coming out from under your hood don't be alarmed

Unless you are using a power sprayer and focusing it only on the front of the intake/MAF/TB, you're going to have a hard time doing damage. It's not an LT1 with an optispark... I have used Engine Degreaser, Simple Green, and a Spray Hose and never had any issues

X2, I usually wash every motor I work on because I can not stand working on a dirty motor. I hit it with some purple power and wash it real good with the pressure washer. Dry it off with the air hose and it's good to go.

Here is a picture of a car I did this weekend:

I powerwash the **** out of mine... I use purple power, simple green and engine bright. I just put belt dressing on a rag and wipe **** down with that. Honestly, anything you put on there to make it shine will attract dust so just clean it every other week and youll be fine. Hell, I needed to dress my bay up in a hurry once, I used WD40.. It worked well in a pinch.. haha

god...i really hate ls1 engine bays. the only ones that look good to me are track only cars with everything deleted/relocated and single plane or sheet metal intakes.

if you hate LS1 engine bays, you gotta see a 3rd gen's TPI engine bay. like twice as many wires and hoses.
