impact tools recommend a good impact gun... not air but a good 12v
i've seen the craftsman impact one on tv but i don't want a cordless. I want to plug it to the battery modified somehow or at home
air compressors are expensive and i only need the impact gun if that makes sense.

so you don't want air or cordless but want a 12v... i'm confused?... i use makita's 18v lithium ion drill and impact and they work good... snap on has a heavy duty 1/2", i think it's a 14.4v if i'm not mistaken... it works real good but is pricey and heavy compared to my makita
i use a lithium 12v dewalt cordless impact (3/8") at work(mechanic). It works great for little things dash work, door panels, smaller fasteners(less then 50ft lbs. or so) but it can not be compared to a air powered 3/8" impact. I do use it a lot though and battery life is pretty good, plus it has leds to provide light when working in tight dark spots.
I also have a Dewalt 18v 1/2 impact, works great for lugs nuts, kind of heavy though.

makita 18v lithum impact is really nice for up to 110ft lb i use it on alot of things i paid 200 off ebay for drill and impact and the snapon 14.4v is good for bigger stuff like tires ect.
Try to find a used snap-on electric impact. I prefer them over anything else. I have used makita, dewalt, Milwaukee, and many others. If snap-on isn't in your price range Milwaukee has some nice stuff out right now with a lot of torque! I'm not sure why you want something that is not cordless but cordless has come a long way over the years. I have a harbor freight plug in impact that is strong. Might want to check into it on there website.

I have a dewalt 18v that takes bits instead of being just 1/2 or 3/8 and it works well. Last week I picked up an 18v 1/2 impact and it has the extra torque I needed for lugnuts. When I had my shop open I had a makita 14.5v that wouldn't hold batteries, a customer of mine wired an extension cord with alagator clips so I could hook it up to a car battery and I still use it today for dashes and door panels.

i was skeptical about the cordless because of the batteries getting weak overtime.
that craftman 19.2v impact claims it can do lugnuts so i guess its good enough for a wannabee weekend mechanic.. me
