www.rigzone.com

Search on there. Tons of land rig opportunities out there if you can pass a drug test and background check.

Do you have any college experience?
Consider looking at roustabouts, roughnecks, and MWD positions. Long, hard hours but the pay is good. If you prove that you are smart and can pick up things quickly, there is a chance you can move up.
Go work out there, save your money, go get an engineering degree, and come back to kick some ***. Just another thought for you.

I am a MWD/LWD operator. its measuring while drilling/logging while drilling. We have a tool that sits behind the motor in the drill string that will give the direction of the well and log different things such as gamma and what not. Like above, check out those websites.

Are you married or have kids? MWD would probably be your best bet if not. I want to say MWDs made 70 their first year but got the crap worked out of them. Im a Directional Driller and have been in the patch almost 11yrs

If you have some electrical experience then you could look for someone hiring an electricians helper OR if you don't want to work out in the oil field you could look into companies that make SCR/VFD houses or that make some of the tools used out there.
I've never worked "in" the oil field but I spent a year building them in a yard and now 2yrs doing electrical rig ups/downs.

Don't mean steal the thread but it's under the same subject. You guy know if any sort of welding goes on on these rigs? Just wondering I have 4yrs welding experience and I hear so much about the amount of money made on rigs but not sure if they have welder job on there.

I was just talking to someone today about getting a job logging drilling data. He said starting pay was around 5k a month plus $250 per day on the rigs. Does that sound about right or was he blowing smoke up my ***? He said you're gone a minimum of 10 days a month. I'm sending my resume tomorrow either way because im tired of doing sales(well servicing) but just wanted some input.
