Lol @ redws618 but true

I'm not the biggest fan of cropped ears, looks great on some while others not do much. My first boxer was all white and I had em done to her ears, one ended up kinda flopping some. Then I got my current boxer in 2000 and knew instantly I wouldn't have em done to her. She still gets compliments every day.

By all means doing it for **** and grins or not correctly are completely different circumstances. Human beings make a decision damn near exactly like this if they have a baby boy, yet no one walks around pointing fingers about that ****.

Back to the point, ask the vet if they if they use a stencil or if they gauge the dogs ears to how the cut should be made. I would recommend one who knows how the dogs ears will fill in. And make sure to ask how they want you to treat the ears to keep them from falling. Then get ready for some cleaning and reapplying of tongue depressors to keep the ears up.

Yup these threads always end up like this. Looking for help and then ppl come in and have to voice their negative opinions on the matter. It's not a debate the guy was just looking for a place to get his dogs ears cropped. I guess if they want to voice their disapproval of cropping ears we should get on them about how dogs shouldn't get fixed since some consider that an unnecessary operation. It's a safe operation and there are a lot of people who feel the same way about fixing dogs. It's not illegal and if it was unsafe vets wouldn't do it. Let the guy do what he wants its his dog...or will be when he gets it.

Also with a dobie yes you will have to prop them up with sticks. Its like a babies ears they dont have the cartilage yet so you will have to wait until they grow the cartilage before you can stop using sticks. I have heard of boxers needing sticks for up to a year with a high crop. I would imagine dobies would be similar since they get a high crop. Unless you want cropped but saggy ears which obviously would defeat the purpose. I hope you find a good place they'll look great as long as you care for them and clean them everyday. Another thing to consider is that when you clean them the dog is not going to sit still so you'll have to use some muscle and maybe a friend to help.
