Whose Star Wars Firebird?
#45
Hey guys,
that car's mine. It's a 97 firebird v6. There is a reason why I did it. I'm a big Star Wars fan and I'm in a costume club called the 501st legion, we have over 5000 members world wide and we do events for the Make-A-Wish foundation.
Anyways I'm a big car guy but I'm also very loyal to my cars, in fact this is just my third in 10 years, before this car I had a 69 Camaro and a 83 El Camino. Anyways, this car just reached over 100,000 on the meter and I had to decide if I was going to mod it up and rebuild the thing for speed or do the Star Wars car like my friend in California. I live in Texas which anyone out here knows that North Texas can be brutal on the bottom of your car because of all the deep water trenches and dips in the street and I knew that I was scratching the bottom of my car up. I also had a slight fender bender on the rear bumper, it wasn't my fault but the insurance refused to pay because they claimed we were both at fault.
That's when I figured why not, I bought a RK Sport Sportback and the dome and it fits pretty good. The Dome is pink which I was a little worried about, but the pink dome is in honor of R2-KT a droid made and named after the founder of our club's daughter who died of a brain tumor, I didn't help build it, but I did help maintain it so I was able to get permission. The dome does turn, it doesn't light up but I do have a back up camera in the dome so that I can see when backing up! I've gotten a lot of good reactions including from the local police. It is hard to have a bad day in this car! Here are some pics of it:
I totally understand that some people might be disgusted with what I did, I debated for a long time before I committed. But if you drove around in this car you'd understand that it's not how fast you get there it's how many friends you made along the way

That' s pretty cool man! I especially like the fact that you chose R2-KT, because of her very special meaning. I saw a video from a news channel that interviewed the founder, and it breaks my heart every time I see it!

I bet all the idiots taking mess about it and the owner comes on now and they have nothing to say lol. Good job on having a meaning for it. I was going to say the hatch looks like the one car transmaro that he built.
