How many times did everyone have to apply to get into the academy?
My husband was a Marine did his four years and has now worked at the prison for a year. He has been told sometimes you have to apply up to 4 times??

I served 30 years in the Army... I always wanted to become a DPS Trooper. Back in 91 upon my return from Desert Shield/Storm I applied to DPS... Passed everything, when they interviewed my "then" wife... She was like, "Oh hes got a temper, he just returned from the war". Obviously I did not get accepted (biyatch).... I ended up staying in and divorced after my first trip to the "stan". Suffice to say, MUCH RESPECT for you choosing that career path. As one said, its not about the money, it has everything to do with wanting to serve and protect from these JA's out there. I have some good friends who are w Tx DPS and they love it! The academy should be a cake walk for ya. GL and Gods speed!

LOL. Every cops regret... Texas DPS officer candidates go through Hell to put the badge on. 26 weeks of Hell. The only good thing and difference between military basic is that you get to go home on weekends. Much respect for DPS officers. They are trained not to rely on backup like other city and county LEO.

I am no longer "on the road" I don't stop cars anymore. I miss it. I also no longer own an ls1 had to put the family first. Thank you guys for all the good wishes.

trooper joke, so the state trooper sees this CAMARO flying down the highway at a pretty good clip. the trooper decides to follow the guy and once hes right behind him turns on his lights. much to the troopers surprise the camaro driver puts the hammer down! the trooper calls for backup and they finally catch the guy then the trooper asks , why did you speed up & try to run? driver answers my ex wife married a trooper , i thought you were bringing her back!
