Default Windows XP Problem

A few weeks ago I formatted the harddrive and installed a copy of XP Home Edition SP3 on my old laptop. I entered in the product key that's on the laptop. Now, when I turn on the laptop and try to log on, it says, Windows must be activated. I select Yes to activate it, but then a window pops up that says it's already been activated. It goes back to the initial screen and the process repeats. I did an internet search to try to fix the problem, and I changed a few settings, but it didn't work. Does anyone in the Clear Lake area want to take a stab at it? How much? I put this same copy on an old desktop, so I'm sure it's going to do the same thing. I haven't turned it on in a few weeks.

Try to do another reboot. Like a fresh install. Sounds like something didn't get installed right.

It worked fine for several weeks. I don't think it had been 30 days yet.
