Default Thinking of moving to Texas

I wanted some info my brother in law lives in Carrolton and visted him last month and i really liked Texas so much im ready to get the heck outta CA. So first off before i move wife and kids out that way i make pretty good money here in CA for the Utility Co here as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic for 2 years and my previous job was with the CA Dept of Transportation as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic for 7.5 years. And i worked in the oil fields here in CA for 4 years.

I applied for a couple jobs with Texas Dept of Transportation yesterday in the Fleet dept. I have my CA smog inspector license and a commercial Class A that i see that i can transfer the DL over no prob. Id like to be within 100 miles of Dallas area any other job venues that i may look into for a good secure job with a utility co,oil fields or something like we have in CA for Bureau of Auto Repair inspector??

Work in the oil field is plentiful here, so job security usually means you make less. Just wing it and hustle. You will probably make more money.

oilfield work seems to be more in south texas from what ive seen unless somebody else has info of oilfield work elsewhere closer to carrolltown/dallas area as he prefers. good luck in a good way and in finding a good paying job.

keep in mind pay probably be less than in California but so is the cost of living.

really best to retire in California and then come to Texas due to cost of living being less is what ive seen and known people to do.

Yea man get out of that Socialist state and move out here to TX. I moved from CA 10 years ago and love it here in No. Houston area. Your cars will love it out here!

I lived in CA for 18 years and I'm amazed at how they toss away their industries. CA used to be the mecca for performance car enthusiasts - gone. Hell, even porno licenses are at an all time low. that is bad!

There are oil fields west of dallas by ft worth. There are ones in east texas and also in the south. But nothing inside the metroplex. But finding a transportation job should be easier and where you could stay inside dfw.
