Mechanical Engineer vs Mechanical Eengineer Tech

I wish I was smart enough like some of the people I have met, just gonna buckle down and study real hard to to understand everything that is being shown to me. Thanks guys I'm going to go and do some more research about what you guys said and use it to my advantage. Hopefully everything goes good.

It depends on what you want to do and realistically, some engineering disciplines can be interchangeable. As others have said, depends on your dedication and motivation. While our society might be....different and changing, hard work can still get you anywhere. After you get your first job, that degree doesn't carry nearly as much weight as your reputation. Good luck
It might depend on when you went through and what types of courses were required under MMET when you went through. MMET students touch on similar things as ME such as fluid dynamics, design, and go into detail about material properties. MMET students also take production inventory planning as well as various programming coursework (automation/robotics control systems) that is a good asset when applying to various jobs especially in oil/gas. Also MMET students take courses in inspection methodologies including non-destructive testing.
I have met some in the industry that have gravitated towards the practicality of MMET graduates over ME when looking at college new hires. Like I said, once you get some work experience, reputation plays a bigger factor than that overpriced piece of paper that is probably framed and hanging on your wall! Although I'm certainly glad my piece of paper says Texas A&M University at the top which can also help in the hiring process!
The comment of ME or MMET being more/less prestigious is just ignorant: two different degrees with some similarities but some differences. I certainly didn't have a problem with ME coursework; I CHOSE MMET because of the practicality and the fact that I knew I would enjoy it more. To the OP, you should choose what you think you will enjoy most and you are doing it right by doing your research; Good luck!

I LOVE my ME degree, and if I were to do it all over again I certainly would get an ME degree again! It's been very good to me..
