Default New guy checking in

What's up everyone. I guess I'm technically not "new" because I joined back in '08 when I was about to buy a 3rd gen, but went another route. Well, looks like I came full circle and now have a nice LS-powered car. 2007 CTS-v with typical bolt-ons:

I'll be getting a ported intake very soon, and am looking at cams. My main concern, and you can call me a sissy, is my exhaust getting too rowdy. I like to be at least a little civil with the neighbors. I've got cats and two 4x9 Magnaflow mufflers, which sound about perfect right now, but I figure a moderate cam will probably be on the loud side. Decisions, decisions, haha.

A cam itself won't necessarily make it much louder. It mainly depends on the exhaust setup, which you have taken care of. You can get a rather mild cam, and it could sound GREAT without getting much louder, if at all.

I figure if I do a cam, I should do it right the first time. Every single time someone gets a mild cam, they say "I should have gone bigger." Now, I don't want an aggressive cam like a MS4, but I also don't want a piddly little 220R. I have my eye on a TSP 236/236 .617/.617. I figure that's just about smack dab in the middle and should drive/sound awesome. Been looking at LOTS of cams, but I'm slowly narrowing it down.

Why not get a custom grind for your current setup? It would be alot better then an off the shelf grind.

I'm not looking for maximum power or anything, since that usually means a not so friendly DD setup (not always, but usually). Do you not agree 236 .617 is a good cam for a thick power band?
