Speeding ticket in different county
Speeding ticket in different county So, I was a dumbass and got pulled over in Fayette County on my way back from SA. He got me for going 90 in a 75 and for following too close. This was in my company truck btw. The court is about 100 miles from home, and I really don't feel like driving that far again.
What are my options here? Should I fight this, or am I going to end up paying out the ***? I haven't had a ticket for 7 years, and this is my first ticket in Texas.

You can send them a money order and they will accept it. I am not 100% on this as of now, but when I was younger, and dumber, I would get tickets, let them go to warrant status and then pay them. Totally kept them off your record. No idea if that still true since I don't get tickets these days. I would surely call and see of they could defer the citation and you could pay for it and then just not get a violation in that county for the next 6 mos to a year.
Yes ask for defensive driving or call and ask for deferred adjutication (sp).
The court just wants the $$$$. The above both will cost about the same but will keep the violation of your driving record.

Thanks for that bit of info. I called the court and I'm eligible for deferred disposition. I have to pay the fine plus $50 for the violation, and it's only 10 days without a violation in that county, which won't be a problem since I don't even live there. Thanks guys.
