Default Possible bad tune

I got the street tune just under two years ago, and in the last several months, I've had this problem where the car will stutter and the traction control will turn off and often the AC shuts off - the compressor won't engage until I restart the car. It does it when I'm idling and driving. It seemed like a MAF problem, so I replaced it and the IAT sensor, but that didn't solve it. Does it sound like a bad tune?

No. It was just a street tune from a fellow Tech guy.

Tunes generally don't just degrade over time. Sounds like something else.

100% correct. The only way I have seen a tune cause a problem later down the road is from the AFR being off and causing ring wash and or detonation. It actually sounds as though you may be having body control module problems. Diagnosing a problem over the internet is not a good method though so I can't say for sure.

I bought the torque app and adapter and took a couple of screenshots when it acted up earlier this week. I remember seeing a bad o2 bank one sensor one code, maybe a misfire. I don't know how accurate the app is.

Well, from what I've gathered so far, getting a new BCM might be a pain in the ***. The damn thing is $579 on Rock Auto. How would I diagnose it?

Then I think you have to program it

I assume that I would have to take it to the dealer. After I left a birthday party, the damn AC compressor wouldn't even turn back on. With summer here in Houston, I need it. Is there a way to confirm that the problem is the BCM? I'd hate to spend $600+ and find out that it's something else.

Yeah take it to the dealer and pay there $79 diagnosis fee lol! or if you have a friend at the dealer that can scan it with there Tech2. Most like HPT wont scan any of the BCM codes etc... I wouldn't do anything til I was sure what the problem is. Because like Cody said this is internet diagnosis and its a guess at best. Go let someone that knows what there doing look at it and it could save you lots of money in the long run, by not just replacing parts etc... GL!

How does the car idle? Does it surge a lot ? Do your motor sometime seem to rev up and down without you touching the gas pedal ?

Only when it acts up does the motor rev up and down and it's only for a second. Other than that, the car runs just fine.

Eh. I don't know anyone with a Tech2, so I might have to take it to the dealership.

A bad primary oxygen sensor would cause the symptoms you're describing

Even the traction control and compressor turning off?

I just remembered that the torque app gave me some bad test results last week. I'll check for damage tomorrow.

Thanks.

You and me both. I just checked the oxygen sensors and didn't see any possible damage.

The car threw a code today, but I think that it's unrelated:

P0116. Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) Circuit Range/Performance Problem

Probably is directly related. It sounds as though your problem will end up being a bad ground or a shorted 5v reference. It could be anywhere. Good luck and keep us posted.
