Smile Head question ?

Okay, I have a question to ask about installing a set of 799 on a 98 5.7. I will be swapping out cam (224 0r ETC) LS7 lifter, springs pushrods, Since I have the heads off, what all needs to be done to the 799 heads, before I install them on the 5.7?. I will have them checked, milled .030 and a 5 angle valve job. I don't think I can afford to have the heads ported at this time.

Nothing else needs done. Look up Loyd Elliot for some affordable porting. He's in the Dallas area and I have used him on two occasions with great results.

Will milling the heads. 030 going to be to much? Any opinions welcomed

I believe it depends on the size of the cam.

you must measure and make a decision or have someone else make the decision for you.

Okay, question, does the 799 heads need to be milled .030 for the 5.7 engine. Or will that be a little much. The cam is a 224/230-581lift ... so not that big of cam...
just want some opinions on this... What would you do... and it's going to be a daily driver.

11 to 1 is fine as long as your tune is spot on. As far as the cam size, gains from compression bump will still be there. In the end it is a preference. No one can really answer that question for you. I would do it if it were up to me. Ask me how I know.

I know everything. LOL No really, I have one built 11:1. If you just go to the gen 3 internal section and read, read, read, there is a ton of info in there.
