That's exactly what I've been using for 15 years. I also use some sort of additional adhesive like caulking to keep it stuck with maximum contact patch. Polyurethane stuff kept mine stuck to inner door skins, roof skin, etc and it basically peels off.
Then shove carpet padding into the dead spaces and add a layer under the carpet for that fancy plush feel.
That's how you sound deaden an entire car for about $50.
Add $10 or so if you want to fill in dead space with expanding foam. I've heard of panels pushing out with the foam but never seen it myself. Something like 3 cans in the Camaro right now lol

Barry, I'm doing virtually everything with the exception of the roof. Beneath the dash to the tailights and up the sides of the car leading up to the roof. Plus the doors. I purchased 108 sq ft (3 packs) of dynamat xtreme and I hope it'll be enough. 108 sq ft was about $450 and I'm looking forward to completing this and seeing what the difference sounds like
