You wouldn't believe the condition of a most of the vehicles I've failed over the years. I've failed countless vehicle's that had no business being on the road. I'm not talking about torn wipers or no horn. Every week I'd reject at least 1 or 2 vehicles minimum. The 2 most common reasons are rowdy brake leaks/their brakes would be metal to metal (even missing a pad from time to time). The other is severely worn tires. I've even had vehicles with massive fuel leaks in the engine bay. It's the non car enthusiasts that are the problem. Many of these failed vehicles are straight up neglected. Our shop would get 5+ people a day that don't even have insurance. I don't know if you've ever been hit by a non insured driver, it sucks. Honestly I don't really dread state inspections. But it's worth noting I don't live in an emissions county. I really don't like the cost of registration & new to you vehicle purchase costs. Especially with older cars. If you buy a 300$ car, taxes should be on that amount. Not what they feel the car is worth. My less government soap box could go on for days. For us car enthusiasts inspections are easy to come by. Just look at all participants in these street car no prep/ grudge events.

LOL my chick is an inspector. Normally its a "hey btw you should fix this soon" deal and part ways. Sometimes its a "hey btw you're a D-bag and your ____ failed" so gimme your money and you have 15 days to fix it.

Seems to be a correlation between level of douchery and failed inspections.... or maybe its the D-bags that like large windshield banners, purple headlights, limo tint front glass, neglected vehicles, burnt out lights, no insurance, blah blah blah.

What the state needs to focus on is all these asshats with temp tags. Every other car in Pasadena has one.

Here in SA too. Most of the time its the illegals that use them. I was hit by a guy that had no insurance, drivers license, & no citizenship. But had fake paper tags. He got a ticket, I got stuck with the repair bill. This was like 6 years ago or so.

yep. Bastards. Another thing that needs to be made law is if you don't have insurance you can't file suit. 4 years ago a Hispanic female that had no DL, no insurance, excluded driver from her husbands policy, no business driving a car, t-boned my wife's son at an intersection. She sued our insurance company and got 50% value on their vehicle and 7k for injuries. BS

Highly doubt the state will take a $150 million income cut anytime soon. If it is, you can bet your *** there will be an increase somewhere else.

That's why you need to have un-/underinsured coverage in your policy.

Yeah, it sucks that us law-abiding people have to pay for the policy (which luckily is not much at all), but at least I will continue to do so as it has already helped me out once. And I actually came well on top on that, too.

Still doesn't make what those people do right, of course.

That rider is HALF of my insurance cost.
Really it doubles my cost for "full" coverage.
Wouldn't have it any other way in Houston.

On the way in to work today, 4 paper plates expired by at least 2 weeks. 1 paper tag with valid date.
