Default Texas Members

My son just graduated from college and will be moving to Austin Texas from Allentown Pennsylvanian. My question is there any members in or near Austin willing to show him around? He has three f-bodies and builds his own motors last one put down 445 RWHP NA in a 02 Camaro. Does his own paint work and just started tuning with HPtuners. My son is a intelligent(not only with cars), friendly and outgoing young man. If you would be willing to help him out please PM me, Thanks.

Tons of us aren't in the Austin area. Texans are friendly though in general and motor heads tend to find each other out. Tell him to just go to Marion or Temple Academy for a drag race and talk to some of the guys.

I stay in San Marcos I have met a few and I mean only a few decent car guys out at the cabelas meet in Buda. If I'm in the area and not busy or in school I'm glad to meet up with fellow enthusiasts. I tend to go to SAR for the drag strip though.

There is a large cars and coffee meet i think every month, tell him to check that out. Info can be found on FB and its located at the Oasis (he will know). I lived there for about 2 1/2 years and there isnt a huge car scene in the area. I noticed that the car scene is more active in San Antonio, Dallas, and Houston.

I would also tell him to be conscious of driving habits and such in the area, the cops do NOT play around in Williamson County. I drive responisbly now (too old for unsafe street driving) and was pulled over in my LS1 Nissan a few times. Luckily i got away with warnings about the "loudness" of my exhaust, height of the car (too low), etc. but the highway patrol are very active.

Thanks for the information and the heads up. He's only 21 and still has that racer-X attitude.

I got a buddy who lives in downtown Austin. Been there for 3-4 years now but he isn't on here. He just got his master's from UT. He is a Marine and a stand up dude....he also bought my 94 Z28. He isn't really a gear head, calls me whenever it has a problem, but he is friendly, knows the scene, and is a stand up guy. If you want me to set up an intro just shoot me a PM. I'd be happy to put them in contact with each other.
If it works out timewise I can roll down there and help out.
