Rear hatch problem

Needing help on how to open the rear hatch on 1998 z28. when I bought the car I didn't get the door key..I always used the push button in the dash or the key fob... But now all I get is a clicking of a relay under the steering area.
How can I open the rear hatch.. without destroying anything?

Crawl over the rear seat and remove the bolts holding the lock mechanism in place. I do this all the time when at the junk yard and it works like a charm.
