All my trumpet students get braces, and it kills them as players. I avoided them because I was considering a major in music and spending 2+ years mashing metal into the backs of my lips would have been a hindrance.

I had braces for 1.5 years, before that I had a palatial expander for like 6 months I think. Now I just have a bottom retainer because I lost my top one. I will have to get my top teeth redone just a little because the expander did most of the work anyway.
