Default Old school project

Hey guys, and gals, just picked up this old El Camino, it's a 1959, the first year of the El Camino. I'm going to start the frame off body restoration on her soon...Tell me what you think, how rare are these things, I don't see too many around? any information will help. Thanks.

I think they are neat my dad put a 348 3 dueces hard cam and 11-1 compression in a 2 door belair in 1959 car was our 6 cylinder brand new family car. Car was very fast and would handle the pontiacs which were top dog at the time. My uncle had a 60 el camino with a corvette 283 two fours and all. I like them.

Looks good, how much did it set you back and does it have any rust on it. Looks like a bad *** project car

That thing has SO much potential. It will be sweet when it's done.

I stole it for $900.00, has rust, but all small holes, easy fixes, no panels need replaced, the biggest piece I'll have to cut out is only like 4" X 4", the whole entire car is strait, and all original (for now) as far as motor goes I'm thinking blown big block, but an LS1 would also be cool...I'll post more pics after I make some head way on the restoration

Don't know how many are still around, but apparently there were 22,246 El Caminos made in 1959 http://chevelles.com/elcamino/ec_total.htm
