Question Automatic gate openers...need recomendations

I have dual opening wrought iron gates and want to buy an automatic gate opener.

I need it to have:

1. a decent price

2. electronically adjustable stops...where it stops when it opens/closes.

3. good for a 16' wide total gate width.

4. I believe each gate weighs less than 100 lbs.

thanks.

Thanks for the links, but I also need some first hand experiences from people that have bought a good opener. I bought one recently, my first one, and it didn't quite work like it should.

thanks.

Ahh, I see. Might have helped if you'd mentioned that initially; it'd sounded like you were looking to buy one for the first time, instead of already having done so and having problems with it... maybe say which one you didn't like, too

Looks like the GTO ones should be able to do what you want. http://www.oldhouseweb.com/stories/Detailed/12986.shtml

Uh, 'need recommendations' says nothing at all about you already having purchased one you didn't like. How is that different from what someone would say if they were looking for advice about what to buy for their first one?

I give up

Can't help you with what actual opener to get, however, I can refer you to Patina Metals and speak with some friends of mine up there.

I don't have the number on me at the moment, but if you look them up they are located off Clay Rd. and Blalock.

Default Battery Backup

My boss has a battery backup on his - not sure what brand the opener itself is. I'll find out for you. His theory on the battery is that if the power is going out, it's going on a crappy day, which is just the kind of day you DON'T want to be getting out to open it by hand.....so he stuck in the backup.

I'll find out tomorrow (if I remember) what he uses. Oh, and for reference, he doesn't buy anything cheap - if he uses it, I'd put money down it ain't gonna be junk.

Talked to my boss - he thinks his opener is by a company called "titan". He's not positive on that. However, he is positive on where he got it - a company called Griffin (off Brittmore he said). Griffin has been in the wrought iron fence business for a good length of time - good company to work with according to him.

Hope this helps.
