Cam and Stall?

Default Cam and Stall?

I have a 226/230 .569/.577 114 cam. I was wanting to know if I need a stall. I really dont wont to put a stall in the car, so the question is do I really need one?

a Torque convertor is need before the cam....

Agree with above posts. If your against a vert, why?? There are so many different verts available that I'm sure you can find something that will work for your needs. Try the search under converters and see whats out there. The converter was one of the best mods we did to our car. Talk about a wake up

I appreciate it for yall responding to my question. I guess I need to set aside some money and get an converter, along with my cam.

most ppl run the tci ssf 3500. i plan on running that with some time in the future. oh dont forget the tranny cooler. most ppl say its a must. the converter is like 560 from jegs and the cooler i am running is about 60. just some info for ya man! good luck with ur project!

I agree with all the above. Let me say that I too was against putting a stall in my truck at first. Granted, I still didn't go a very high stall converter, but it was by far the best mod I have done to date. Really woke the hell out of the truck. And since I went a relatively small one, most of the stock driving characteristics are exactly the same, with the exception of off the line, which has been greatly improved. Definitely add the trans cooler though. You'll be glad you did the converter. Especially with the cam your looking at, without the converter, that cam is not going to pull down low very good and your gonna bog at low rpms.

Thanks guys. I plan on getting a 3200 stall or maybe a 3600. But I want to keep the driveablity with the car also. So what size stall with that cam should I go with.
