Default Emissions Questions

So I've been gettin my stickers on post for nearly half a decade, and now I have to get my car smogged. I'm in the DFW area and I hear they do sniffer among the usual OBDII stuff. My codes are straight via my trust laptop and HPTuners, but I'm thinkin the Kooks under my hood just won't cut it. Anybody had any experiences in the DFW area where they've had some luck? Or do most people just not care?

What???? Galson is down the street from me. What year is your car?
Did they do the sniffer because of not having the OBDII tester?

I was reading the website and it listed a whole buncha **** on there, including exhaust emissions systems, which roughly translates into the sniffer test. so....anyone know any friendly stations around grapevine or dfw? TTT!!

I'm thinking you don't have to get the sniffer done on your car. Since you have a 2000 and OBDII. I know I don't get the sniffer done on my 01

The ONLY reason a car made after 1995 will be sniffed is if there is an OBDII connection error...thats what the DPS taught me.

I just got my car inspected and my computer wasnt reading, so they had to use the sniffer on my car and I failed. But I told them that my cig. fuse was probably out and it was. So they replaced it and ran it through the computer again. It passed.

2-24 years only are emissions inspected
96 and newer obdII
95 and older ASM (dyno with sniffer)
95 older with gvwr greater than 8500 TSI (2 speed ilde with sniffer)

part of the inspection is a saftey inspection. You are supposed to have all emissions items that came on the car among lights and what not.
there there is the emissions part of the test, the emissions computer is hooked to the dlc and checks monitor readiness

just because you dont have codes doesnt mean your going to pass.

I couldn't pass the OBDII test because my car was spitting out codes so my dad's friend hooked me up and sniffed my car(when it was stock). On another note, you guys had me freaked out. I thought they changed the law. If they sniffed anything after 96 then there would be an *** load of us sweating our ***** off. I need to move to another state that doesn't do emmissions before all these ******* tree huggers start writting petitions to persude our politians to embrace tree hugging laws.
