Default Anyone do sprinkler systems in here?

We are needing a sprinkler system put in at our new house. We just had a house built and moved in back in September. We should have had it put in when we built the house but for some reason we didn't. Now, I need one before it starts to get real hot.

I wanted to give my follow ls1tech buddies the 1st shot at making some money. We live in Missouri City/Sugarland.

We did the same thing, built a house, should have done it with the build but didn't and here three years later we still don't have one. Would love one put in though! We are in the Tomball area, right past Willowbrook.

Call Head to Head irrigation and talk to them about installing your system. We are in the process of having a new home built and they are doing my system after we move in. He will come out to the house and plan the whole system for the exposer that you need. I will PM you monday with his information.

Hey coach, just throwing an idea out to you, since i did landscaping for about 5 years...

Putting together a system is very simple. You can get the pipes, heads and all for not a bad price. Pick a weekend out, and have some of your kids from Cy - Ridge come out and help you dig and lay it in!

Give them something worth working for.

Just do them your self. You only need to know a couple of things. Does the city require you to have a second water meter if installing a sprinkler system. Most cities if you pay some on to install the system you you must get a seperate meter ($600 fee). If you do it yourself you can hook into your current water line, all you need to install is a back flow check valve ($50 at Lowes), then have the city water department ok your installation. Next you need to determine how much flow per minute you have. This determines how many heads to install on each watering zone. When you lay out the zones you want at least head to head coverage. Depending on the size of the yard, most have 6 zones. Most common, but if you have more you will need to find a controler that can do more, normally all you will find is 8 max at Lowes or Home Depot. Lay out your heads so you can do minimal digging, have at least a 1" supply line to the heads, then break off on 3/4" or 1/2" lines. Some people like to have all there valves in one location (takes a big cover to hide them all) Also nice to have one main supply valve near your meter. Should only take a weekend to install. Noramlly you can spray where you are going to dig, rent the ditch witch for 4 hours and return it, lay your pipe and wires, then spend the rest of time burying the pipe. When you bury the pipe use water and the head of a sleadge hammer and tap the dirt in.

You can save your self 3-4thousand dollars doing it your self. A decent size yard should only cost 600-1000 thousand in parts and $50 in beer for your buddies.

Damn, we just put in a 6 zone system for $2800 today with 400 in parts and 150 in permit fees. There's so many installers that are doing it so cheap, that in the end they aren't making enough to justify that hard of work. Going by what we pay for parts/permit, they only made 850 on that system, and I'm sure they had hourly guys working for them.

You on the other hand, got a good deal.
