Texas Drag Racing Rocks!!!!!!!!!!!!
We headed out to HRP to get a few test passes in and welcomed familiar faces just kept showing up. One of them showed up in a Hugger Orange SS and looked a lot like Tony (aka Nineball) and by God it was the man himself. He made some stock base line passes that left me shaking my head. He had me by a full second on our stock ETs. Then MMiller (aka wish I had a Cunkin Famaro) showed up for morale support (yeah he made Earnhart proud in his Nascar attire.lol). Yeah I'm just jealous. Then DJ99SS some how managed to get a kitchen pass, and showed up. It was getting good real quick. I knew I should have bought a Lotto ticket.LOL.
I made what I thought was a shake down all motor pass (is there anything else) of 10.68@ 125.49 with a 1.42 60ft , which turned out to be the best of the evening. The humidity increased a bit , but the track deteriorated just a bit as the night went on. I had a 1.3X 60ft on motor calling my name, but it just never happened.
Those darn familiar faces just kept showing up. We had Mike from G-force who offered the use of his ET drag radials. (how nice is that .huh?) I just might take him up on that BTW. Good people Fo Sho.
Then here comes the herd. HPE swarms the track. OMG.The whole shop is there. I wonder sometimes if they are following me.LOL. That's a good thing. I screwed up and left my tuning Lap top at the house and it's nice to know "The Man" has my back. I get wood just knowing I'm covered like that....really! Ok I got side tracked. Anyway I look up and I felt like I was at a family reunion. I knew most everyone and met a few along the way.
It just feels good to hang with the fellow racers: I got to Hang with Troy (aka: Redsnake) , Mr Eric Potter, Josh (HPE), Rick(HPE), Dan (Blown Shortblock ..HPE) (sorry, I couldn't resist.), Chuck ("The Man"....HPE) , Gray (You ,stud ,you)...the wife made me say that.
There were just too many good folks to list all of them. I had a great time.
Watch for the little lady to turn 10.40s in her all motor HPE daily driver before the years end. I'm taking bets in case there are any skeptics.
"Life is Good!"
Anyways, what is this stud thing all about?!?!?
Does Sheila have to say something or what? Back to the topic...
It was good seeing everyone again. Including Matt, Dennis, and everyone else!
Me and Tony definately need to get that wet kit on the 69 and clock a cool number in that bad boy before this weather gets up and runs off again!
Gray
if i would not have thrown him this huge 4ft peice of pipe they might have made off with him. He had to fight them off to make sure he returned home to his wonderful wife
LOL
You guys just keep the ladies dreaming.
I got to go put the powersteering belt on the SS so the wife can take it to work. See ya!!!!

Anyways, took the orange SS out to HRP tonight for some baseline runs. The car is bone stock (39K miles) except for a Whisper lid that came on the car. Ran the car on the 18" Boyds and regular radials, in full street trim including the spare. Basically, just as I bought it, but with wheels on it.
First pass was a weak 13.6 @ 105 mph. Bogged it so bad it almost died (2.27 60')
Second pass, I left a little more aggressively and spun the tires just enough. No bog. It went 12.84 @ 104.5 with a nice 1.82 60' time. Of course, that was all-shift and no lift
. Stock cars are easy to powershift
Third pass, tried to come out a little higher (3500 rpm) and spun the tires too much. 12.92 @ 104.6 (1.94 60'). Clutch didn't like the power shifting too much on that pass, pedal was mushy.
Last pass, didn't powershift it. 13.0 @ 104.2 (1.98 60')
Thats good enough for a baseline. Who said stock LS1s couldn't run 12s back in 99?

What was funny about the chick flirting with me was she told me that if I were Dale, Jr. that she would marry me right then and there. I didn't think I was going to get away from her until Gray rescued me. I mentioned that I was going to the NASCAR race in a couple of weeks and she is going to try and find me up in Ft. Worth, lol.
We really need to have a get together somewhere this spring before it gets too hot for a little NASCAR or NHRA racing.
