Car acting up today....

Car acting up today.... I get in my car after work and put the key in the ignition and attempt to start it up and after I turned it all the way the car did not start up so I pop the hood and a buddy of mine comes over to help me. I get back in the car and try to start it up and it does. Drive it home and it starts up again but thats wierd why would it do this? Not start up and then all of a sudden start up again??
How many miles on the car??? does it click or make any noise...maybe security lamp comes on??? It is most likely the ignition lock cylinder going out. The more the wires attached to the lock cylinder the more they wear out until they dont make contact any more, but i have seen them work and then not work for a while.
Could be as simple as battery connections too, but you will usually hear the starter click and just not turn over with loose/corroded connections.

It has something to do with the chip in the key. They get a little worn over the years and the car doesn't read it right sometimes. Sometimes it will happen several time in a row and then you may go a month or two with out it happening.

thanks ya'll but no I had no response when I turned the key no clicking nothing no response at all. Alarm and lights worked though. As i walked around the car i did turn my alarm on and then off again. Then i started it up. Maybe it was the anti theft system.
