Default Just 2 Simple Questions

i have a rear end girdle that i will be installing soon and was wondering what fluid i should replace it with, i have heard 90w synthetic, and i have heard 75w synthetic, can anyone clear up the confusion for me that would be awesome like with an actual brand and all that good stuff so i can just pull it off the shelf? and i need the limited slip additive and a new gasket too right?

also, what does scv or svc mean on the monsoon head unit with the 12 disc changer. the only thing i can think of if its a kind of attention button, or if it increases volume based on volume inside or around the cabin. its buggin the crap out of me. thanks

Depends on what gears you have if you changed them. I have stock gears and run Royal Purple Max-Gear. It comes with the limited slip additive already in it. I believe your synthetics already do, i.e. Mobil 1, RP, Lucas Oil.

It is like a volume control. As you drive the volume will increase slightly, when you slow down the volume will decrease slightly.

depends on which year your car is (which posi) if it is a 98, it has the auburn posi unit and needs the additive, if it has the torsen, then it doesnt (99+). some SLP cars got the auburn posi after 98 as well.

if you have an m6 car, alot of guys run the 85w-140 fluid in order to reduce the shock on things.

i've also read about not running synthetic in rear ends w/ auburn posi.

i ran valvoline non-synthetic 85w-140 in my 10 bolt and now w/ my 12 bolt. my moser 12 DOESNT whine with it, so it must be working pretty well.

you need a new gasket, and i like to use some RTV on both sides of the gasket as well. i'm an RTV freak of sorts lol

the SCV stands for speed volume controll or somthing similar, i like mine there is a noise level sensor outside the cabin, and that **** around the volume button adjusts the sensitivity. i set mine one click down from max.

no limited slip additive, 85w-140 fluid (synthetic if you want ) , and some RTV are in order.

i'm a fan of using gasket + RTV on stuff. i like the BLACK high-temp RTV, i've used it on all kinda stuff and it works awesome. plus it doesnt stick out like a sore thumb as some of the orange/blue crap does.

if your cover came with a gasket, hooray, but if it diddnt, you might want to go to the autoparts store and get one for a 7.5" 10bolt before installing (very cheap). i put the RTV on the rear end, then stuck the gasket to it, then put more on the cover, and then installed it. it can get very messy very quickly so be carefull
