I dont see any discussion on it
http://www.capitol.state.tx.us/tlo/b...h/criteria.htm
So it is probably not going to happen. I heard that other states that did not require it previously are adopting similiar laws though. Damn shame, I hate that law.

The latest bill to pass the house in Texas will take something away from local drivers to save the state money…but it's something you probably won't miss. It's just one part to a bill that might save the state around $330 million.
...
Another portion of this bill might leave your car looking a bit more stylish. The state might put and end to requiring two license plates. Just by taking your front license plate away...the state could save five million dollars a year.
If this portion of the bill passes you could shed your front license plate by September.

Motorists would no longer need a license plate on their front bumpers under a broad-based cost-saving and revenue bill adopted Wednesday by the Texas House of Representatives.
House Bill 3540, by state Rep. Jim Pitts, R-Waxahachie, establishes a broad range of new fees and cost-cutting measures. It passed on a 107-37 vote. All told, the legislation would raise nearly $1 billion over the state's two-year budget cycle, according to Pitts, who heads the House Appropriations Committee.
Pitts said the added revenue is needed to balance the state's $66.2 billion budget for the upcoming two years. "It's a great day for Texas -- it helps us fund our budget," Pitts said.
Under one provision, the Texas Department of Transportation would issue motorists a single plate, which would go on the rear of vehicles. Currently, the state issues two license plates that go and the front and back.

I had heard about this actually the other day. They were saying that one other bill had to pass and that this was on the same bill. And the other bill was something that would most likely pass. It was kinda put in on the same bill at the back of the ledger where no one reads. lol.

I believe the bill is that of online lottery or so mething like that, and they just tacked the no front plate thing onto the tail end of it. They can't pick what they do and don't want to pass, they either pass all or none of it. Since the online lottery thing will probably make the state a lot of money, it will most likely pass(or did it alkready?)
