Damn I wish I had been on the board back when I was in Waco. I lived in Penland and loved it for about a month then wanted to hurt people on my hall. Get used to not sleeping well for a year. God I miss college life, I have been out for six months and miss it soooo much. Enjoy it while you can fellas.

I am only in my third year, but these first two have absolutley flown by. You go in August, and before you know it, May is here again. In a way, I'm starting school all over again, as I'm transferring to Texas Tech this fall from UNC-Charlotte. Looking forward to it though

I graduate from UNT this fall. I'm applying to their graduate school in January '06 to be accepted for Fall '06. I'm going for a Ph.D. in clinical psychology.

I took 6 years for my BS and it will be another 6 years for a Ph.D. So, that's 12 years of school, and I'll be 30 years old before I really start my career.

Oh yeah, my advice to 05 grads from HS: If you can't get in to the 4 year university of your choice, take your core classes at community college. Just make sure they will transfer to the institution you plan on transferring to, or else you'll have to take them again. If you visit your advisor, they should have the equilivency sheets for most Texas universities, and have access to other schools around the nation.

It's tough though when all of your buds are getting in to 4 year schools, and you don't have the grades to go with them. It's a lot cheaper though to get your core subjects out of the way at a community college, then when you get to the university, you can start in on your major. Well, that is if you've decided what you want to do.

Okay, so enough of the boring stuff. Here's what I know now, and I wish I knew it when I was a freshmen. Well I knew some of it, but I feel like typing, so here it is:

-If you start getting fat from beer, start drinking liquor. Don't go to Whataburger/Taco Cabana every night. It gets expensive and you will blow up like a balloon.

-Go to class, don't sleep in.

-Try not to date a girl that lives in your resicence hall, or on your floor. If things don't work out, she will let the whole hall know about it.

-Always try to grab a ride with someone if you plan on drinking. Cops in college towns wait outside of bars at 2am looking for drunks.

-Always smile and introduce yourself to girls. Remember their name - girls love it when they see you a week later and you call them by their name. It shows that you care, and they like that.

-If you join a fraternity, don't join it for their house, or the girls that they have, or the number of nights they drink beer together out of the week. Join it for the guys, or else you'll be miserable. Fraternities all look great during rush week, but shortly after, the booze and girls are nowhere to be found.

-Be careful with college girls. If you go home with one, be sure to wrap it up no matter how many times she tells you that she is a virgin, or she doesn't have STDs or bla bla bla. A lot of college girls are scandalous (more scandalous than you are!) and will tell you anything to get some action.

-Register for classes early so you don't get stuck with 8am classes.

-Try to join atleast one campus organization. It looks great on your work application. Even if you are cleaning trash up after football games, you'd be suprised who you'll meet.

-Network yourself. Everyone you meet could potentially help you out later on in your career. Always dress somewhat nice because you never know who you'll meet.

-Approach your professors after lecture and introduce yourself. Do this the first week or so of class. That way if something comes up during the semester regarding your grades, your prof. will remember who you are, and you will have the possibility of getting a better grade. Also, get to know your TAs - they do most of the grading in college, not your prof.

That's about all I can think of for now. I consider myself a professional student (not for hire ) so if you have any questions, shoot 'em this way. Damn, good thing I'm graduating this Fall or else I'd be in school for 7 years for a BA. Oops, sorry mom & dad.

Van Wilder hahaha! I never thought of that one before. I don't have my own golf cart though.

SWT (still having a hard time calling it Texas State) has a beautiful campus. It's really hilly though, so you'll get a workout.
