Enjoy it boys, sooner than later your going to look back and be like where did all these years go. So make the most of every day, because once its over, its over.
I am only in my third year, but these first two have absolutley flown by. You go in August, and before you know it, May is here again. In a way, I'm starting school all over again, as I'm transferring to Texas Tech this fall from UNC-Charlotte. Looking forward to it though
I took 6 years for my BS and it will be another 6 years for a Ph.D. So, that's 12 years of school, and I'll be 30 years old before I really start my career.
It's tough though when all of your buds are getting in to 4 year schools, and you don't have the grades to go with them. It's a lot cheaper though to get your core subjects out of the way at a community college, then when you get to the university, you can start in on your major. Well, that is if you've decided what you want to do.
Okay, so enough of the boring stuff. Here's what I know now, and I wish I knew it when I was a freshmen. Well I knew some of it, but I feel like typing, so here it is:
-If you start getting fat from beer, start drinking liquor. Don't go to Whataburger/Taco Cabana every night. It gets expensive and you will blow up like a balloon.
-Go to class, don't sleep in.
-Try not to date a girl that lives in your resicence hall, or on your floor. If things don't work out, she will let the whole hall know about it.
-Always try to grab a ride with someone if you plan on drinking. Cops in college towns wait outside of bars at 2am looking for drunks.
-Always smile and introduce yourself to girls. Remember their name - girls love it when they see you a week later and you call them by their name. It shows that you care, and they like that.
-If you join a fraternity, don't join it for their house, or the girls that they have, or the number of nights they drink beer together out of the week. Join it for the guys, or else you'll be miserable. Fraternities all look great during rush week, but shortly after, the booze and girls are nowhere to be found.
-Be careful with college girls. If you go home with one, be sure to wrap it up no matter how many times she tells you that she is a virgin, or she doesn't have STDs or bla bla bla. A lot of college girls are scandalous (more scandalous than you are!) and will tell you anything to get some action.
-Register for classes early so you don't get stuck with 8am classes.
-Try to join atleast one campus organization. It looks great on your work application. Even if you are cleaning trash up after football games, you'd be suprised who you'll meet.
-Network yourself. Everyone you meet could potentially help you out later on in your career. Always dress somewhat nice because you never know who you'll meet.
-Approach your professors after lecture and introduce yourself. Do this the first week or so of class. That way if something comes up during the semester regarding your grades, your prof. will remember who you are, and you will have the possibility of getting a better grade. Also, get to know your TAs - they do most of the grading in college, not your prof.
That's about all I can think of for now. I consider myself a professional student (not for hire

thank you VAN WILDER!!
ive been in community college for 4 semesters and plan on going to Texas state, now that i know its a good school for business!
Business management!
Planning on getting out of here, get a good paying job. Then start my own night club and if that works out very well. Will be opening a strip club down the street or across town!
SWT (still having a hard time calling it Texas State) has a beautiful campus. It's really hilly though, so you'll get a workout.
