5-7k for changing gaskets/seals?

5-7k for changing gaskets/seals? hey guys...i got a friend that has a 95 t/a. basically he needs new head gaskets, valve cover gaskets, oil pan gaskets, and the rear seal replaced (at least according to lamb's). his car has been smoking from under the hood and that is the list of stuff lamb's says is wrong... 
i haven't looked at the car...
i don't have any space or tools here where i am staying so i can't help him out or do the work. lamb's quoted him some crazy 5-7k for the work...lol
i told him he needs to find a real shop that will drop the motor and replace what gaskets need to be replaced...but around here the options are a bit limited...

Thats rediculous! i was quoted $1200 to do head gaskets on an LT1 from Speedtek here in Ft. Worth. Rear main should be close to the same price, and hell, the v/c, and oil pan gaskets are easy. Nice s/n by the way! I'm a huge Stars fan.
