Default Hello Austin

Hi everyone,

Just moved to Austin. Staying near Duval and Mopac.

Anyone want to meet Sunday (I'd need good directions)? I'll check back tomorrow evening. If anyone wants to do a cruise somewhere, I haven't been anywhere yet in Austin, so it would all be new to me ...

Questions:

1) Can anyone recommend a good F-Body shop around Austin? I want to put on a stainless exhaust system (Dynatech headers & Y-Pipe plus Corsa cat-back).

2) Does Texas have any rules about palcement of the converters? Long-tube headers will move the cats, but the exhaust will be as clean as stock.

Thanks, and hello Texas.

Hi JMZ,

I won't let the heat get me. I lived 22 years in Phoenix, so this is almost home. Thanks for the reply.

I like my Camaro SS and will make it into a "toy car" when I get another driver later this year.

Meanwhile, want to meet and get to know the local F-Body crowd. In Oregon, the SS Owner's Assoication and the Columbia River Camaro Assoication made friends with the Mustang Wranglers and we all cruised together. It was fun and we even had some Mopars tag along for the cruises. Going through a small town with 50+ hot cars is both fun and social, and we were all invited back for shows and parades.

Hope we can do the same around Austin and have some fun cruises. I also hope there is a decent track around here where we can get in some speed days. Portland International Raceway is a fun place, as is Pacific Raceway around Seattle ... as long as someone doesn't back it into a wall at 100+mph.

What is the local road course that the clubs use?

Just curious, and thanks for the welcome.

Thanks, and hello Texas.

Give us a call at Texas Motorsports. 512-491-0499

We can get you hooked up on installing those long tubes, y-pipe, etc.!

Welcome to Texas, and there is a Meet every saturday at Parmer and 1431.

A lot of the guys at our shop go out there with many others. We could all meet up and you could follow us out there next weekend. I am here in Houston for business so i can not make it.

Anyways, welcome again

www.americanracingtech.com is a good place for exhaust and any other type of mechanicing you need. Speak with Charles.

There are several places people meet in Austin. One is 1431 and palmer on saturday evenings, another is in Oak Hill at the Y in the Mcdonalds/alberstons parking lot. Check out AFBforums.com and check out the events section. Good to have you here in Austin!
