Default Another BS ticket thread!

I just want to say first off, I love the way our tax dollars are being spent....

I am coming down 290 today with my t-tops off, when all of the sudden it starts POURING! So I stupidly exit at 1960 going west, and pull of to the far left lane (blocking traffic!) Undo my seatbelt, jump out and put my tops on...I proceed to make the u-turn underneath 290 and bam, cop standin in the road. Stops me and asks "where is your seatbelt?" I replyed "I just took it off." He cut me off and said hand me your license, gave me a citation and told me to go. What an ***-hole...im sitting there drinched from less than 1 min ago getting out and putting the tops on..should I fight it or just pay it...How much is it for a citation for seat belt?

my friend was stopped at a light and a cop walked up to him and told him he was getting a ticket for no belt.
my friend said this is stupid, and the cop said "its the law" so he said "ITS GAY!"
anyway he had to stay there and got the ticket.
I always wear by belt but theres a couple times when I get in my car and start driving before i put it on, i guess thats just what happened to you, that really sucks

yep...looks like $120 for the ticket and $91 for court fee...what is the difference if I fight it or not? Does it go on my record or something if i lose? Or does it go on there anyway?

It is a non-moving violation anyways (it wont ever go on your record) so just pay the fee and screw it. Same crap happened to me last month...

is it non-moving if I was moving when he stopped me? Or is the seat-belt law a non-moving violation?

If you have Judge Yeoman call the clerk an ask for a date to see the D.A.
Explain your situation an i think you might get out of it.
It's worth a try.

that I had just taken it off less than 30 seconds ago, and it was to get out of my car and put my tops on. It wasnt like I was driving around with it off. It was like 30 feet.

you honestly believe anyone in their right mind thinks I deserve a ticket for that??? Ouch, you must be a cop..

The seatbelt violation is always non moving. I got a BS ticket for it 2 months ago when a cop pulled me over and told me I wasnt wearing a seatbelt after "spotting" me 10 feet away under an overpass with both my windows down (grey seatbelt against a white t-shirt). Its cheaper to just pay it. It will never be on your record

Anytime you violate laws, you are running the risk of getting a ticket. That's just the way it works, so deal with it. Not to be a ****, but come on, it gets old hearing people complaining all the time about getting in trouble for breaking the law.

I would go to the court and explain to the judge your situation. The police officer doesn't know the story of what happened to you. He saw the offense, so he wrote it. I can gaurentee you 100 percent that he hears the excuse, "I just took off my seatbelt for one second." If the officer let everyone go that had that excuse, he'd never write any tickets for seatbelt violations. lol. He is just doing his job, you can't get mad at him for that.

Side note...you mentioned it was raining out. The officer must of been a rookie. Any vetern cop knows to stay in the car and avoid writing tickets when it's raining.

I would just go to court, plead your case, and if you have a clean driving record, there is a good chance the judge will dismiss the ticket. Make sure to dress professional and look presentable. You won't get very far looking like a shlub.
