Default Maximum Impact Update!!

With September 17th and 18th quickly approaching, the list of confirmed racers attending Maximum Impact is growing at a phenomenal rate. While it is true that two NHRA tracks in Houston are running events on the same days but only one, Houston Motorsports Park (HMP), will have the fastest on the planet competing for over $90,000 in total payout. With promised coverage by ESPN and several national magazines, Maximum Impact will undoubtedly be one of the most exciting and talked about events to ever hit the Houston racing scene. When you take a look at the list of confirmed participants it reads like the who’s who of drag racing.

In Pro Mod, what originally was set up as a quick four shootout is quickly growing to resemble a NHRA National Pro Mod event with 5 of the top eight in NHRA AMS/TLR points standings solidly confirmed to participate. With 5,000 up for grabs for the first 3 second, eighth mile pass and another $5,000 for the quickest 3 second pass, all participants are sure to have their tune-ups set on “kill.”

GETWORKCOMP.COM and AMS Staff Leasing owner, Dave Woods, is not only bringing his driver, Troy Critchley, but is also the proud Title Sponsor of the entire event. His driver, Troy Critchley, is currently ranked 4th in the NHRA AMS/TLR Pro Mod Cup Point Standings.

Local Houston favorite, Thomas “HEADHUNTER” Patterson who, besides holding the current track record at Houston Motorsports Park with a 4.03 @ 185mph, is currently ranked 6th in NHRA and will be looking to push the record to HMP’s first 3 second pass.

No Pro Mod event in Houston would be complete with out Houston bad boy, Frankie “MADMAN” Taylor present. From old school, street racer to 8th in NHRA Pro Mod, Frankie brings his “never lift” reputation and excitement to the race.

With two NHRA National Event wins and currently ranked 2nd in points, Josh Hernandez in Dr. Moon’s Rage stands a good chance at upsetting the Houston boys and taking home both bounties.

Now this is where it gets interesting…originally the four drivers listed above were the line up but now, your current Number One in NHRA points standings, Mike Ashley in his TORCO Mustang has confirmed he will be attending and bringing his five, that’s right, FIVE NHRA National event wins with him. Also, Chip King has confirmed that he will be debuting his “SuperBird” at Maximum Impact. As if that wasn’t enough, the latest rumor is that there is a strong chance that Pro Mod legend and Speedtech owner, Shannon Jenkins, as well as Western Beef’s, Mike Castellana may join the fight and use Maximum Impact as a testing ground for the following week’s NHRA Nationals in Dallas. Look for more of NHRA’s and Pro Mod’s finest to join in on the brawl as the event date nears.

Living up to its name, Maximum Impact also brings the most wicked Outlaw 10.5 race ever with $20,000 up for grabs to the winner. The long list of confirmed racers come from all over the USA and promises two full days of deep, screaming 4 second eighth mile passes at over 165 MPH. With the full support from several race organizations like ORSCA (Outlaw Racing Street Car Association), Dallas’s Texas King Of The Hill, Houston’s TORA (Texas Outlaw Racing Association) and ProModifieds.com, this promises to have a huge car count and the possibility of a new World Record in the class. Already confirmed for the event are as follows: Jeff Naiser, Todd Moyer, Terry Robbins, Mike Hill, Scott Winsett, Tim Lynch, Josh Lindsey, Greg Pizzino, Matt Jones, Bud Morgan, Matt & Rick Cook, Craig Miller, Darrin Wade, David Houser, Cameron Jurow, Tony Thorn, Travis Orr, Dannie Humphries and Nick Williams, Grant McCrary, Rick Thornton, Don Wooten, and Jack Barfield. In this list are several claiming to currently hold the World Record. On September 17 & 18th at Houston Motorsports Park it is very likely the true King of the class will be crowned.

Speaking of true, let’s not forget the True Ten Five class. The skinniest of tires with the maximum of horsepower makes this class one of the most exciting to watch as the cars rip down the track in a side by side head up dual all while running on the ragged edge of traction versus disaster. Current World Record Holder, Dave Reese will be bringing his Camaro all the way from Georgia in an attempt to show the Texas’s boys how it’s done.

Last but not least, Maximum Impact also features FSTA (Factory Street Of Texas Association). With four exciting classes of racing and one of the hardest hooking tracks in the south, Maximum Impact on September 17 & 18th at Houston Motorsports Park located in Houston, not way out in Baytown promises to deliver two full days of high horsepower, tire smoking, record shattering racing entertainment.

I really hope Awesome Motorsports will be there. Gotta love the N20 Pro-Mod's....

And good luck to all of the local guys like Rob and Steven. There will be some heavy hitters out there that weekend and it would be nice to see some locals show them how it's done...
