It is not people buying stockpiles of fuel. The point of the original thread was to give people a heads up about the limited availability. All shipments are being diverted elsewhere. Brazoria county is out of fuel. Galveston county will probably run out today. We are being told not to patrol, just answer calls because the county and municipalities dont know when we will get more fuel.

Post Crude Oil vs Gasoline

As some one stated before the problem is not Low Oil the problem is Refinery from changing Crude oil into Gasoline! We have the Oil we just do not have all of the refineries up and running. The reason Bush opened the reserves was simply to try and stop the panic, and try to do everything "in his power" to help out with the rising cost of Crude Barrels. Like I stated in another tread before, I forsee crude oil going up as high as $80-$90 a barrel, however I have heard from experts in the industry (by the way I work at a catalysts plant. catalysts are what help 'crack' crude oil into a form to be refined into gas) that the market will level out and that the price per barrel will fall once again they are estimating it will be around $40-$50 a barrel. When you ask? That is the $64,000 question. Until we get New Orleans out from underwated, the rigs in the gulf back up and operating and the refineries back up, we are all going to fill it at the pumps. Everyone freaked out in the late 70's and early 80's. Hell they were at the point where you had to have specific tickets to buy gas! We have not reached that point! After that look what happened Gas Prices Dropped to below $1/gallon and Crude oil was under $20. It will all eventually come full circle again. We just must be patient. In the mean time though we all just need to

Besides the point, and they got this straight from a station owners mouth on TV last night. A lot of stations are shuting down now, so that they can have gas over the Labor day weekend.......presumably to be able to jack the prices up that much more.

The store manager on tv actually said he shut down the pumps so that when this weekend all the other stores have run out of gas, he would re-open the pumps for the holiday. I think this was somewhere in Angleton or Lake Jackson, TX

Something i ran into at a CNN website. I may have to pay venezuela a visit.

Gas prices around the world
Think you pay a lot for gas? Perhaps you'd prefer to live in Venezuela.

Gasoline prices in the United States, which have recently hit record highs, are actually much lower than in many countries. A few countries, like Venezuela have prices that are far lower.

The main driver of price disparities between countries is government policy, according to AirInc, a company that tracks the cost of living in various places around the world. Many European nations tax gasoline heavily, with taxes making up as much as 75 percent of the cost of a gallon of gasoline, said a spokesperson for AirInc.

In Venezuela, on the other hand, oil is produced by a government-owned company and local gasoline prices are kept low as a benefit to the nation's citizens, he said.

Nation City Price
UK TEESIDE $5.64
HONG KONG HONG KONG $5.62

Thats what dispatch told me yesterday afternoon, it was in a teletype from Brazoria county. I know that parts of Galveston county are running out right now. Five stations in Texas City were out yesterday afternoon. We are being told that it is unknown when a gas delivery will come, even for county and municipal vehicles. Thats taxed gas/diesel vs. nontaxed gas/diesel and apparently no one is getting deliveries at this time. Hopefully they reroute some fuel trucks back our way next week.

From one of my various resources, most gas stations are only receiving half truck loads of fuel.

This would be plenty to go around if people would gas as they normally do. However, rumor got out that the gas is running out("OMG OMG OMG!!!" ) so people go out and buy as much as possible. This only compounds the problem. Now, it IS true, we ARE running out of gasoline because of all the gullible ***** who fuel up unnecessarily when they panic.

Then you had best go out and get some while you still can.

A little info as to what's really going on in the Energy Industry from people who know...And to all the Bush bashers, that I've read in previous threads, that don't know their *** from a hole in the ground and blame him for for everything...

In a continued effort to serve our international client network, Purvin &
Gertz has prepared a brief update of Hurricane Katrina's Impact on the
Energy Industry.

You can find the brief at this link:

http://www.purvingertz.com/news_arti...aneKatrina.pdf

This is a catastrophic occurrence not only for the U.S. Gulf Coast energy
industry, but also for the hundreds of thousands of residents in the region
who have suffered great losses.

I've got a bicycle, and everything I need is within walking distance. If we do literally run out of gas for a while, it won't hurt the Mustang to just sit and chill for a little bit.
