Tuning and Install
Tuning and Cam Install do it myself? hey guys i was wondering who you would recommend for tuning in the austin area, but i am also willing to go to houston or dfw if there is a better deal or tuner in those areas. i am thinking about doing the cam and header install by myself, but what is the going rate for a cam install. and do i have to get a dyno tune or can i just get a regular tune for now, and wait until i install the heads and intake that i am planning on getting soon. i really dont know if spending 400 for a dyno tune is worth it. since i am upgrading soon and will need a retune then. plus 400 bones is a lot of food (in college) what do you guys think?

I think we have a sponsor here that is in Austin, I think they're called Texas Motorsports. Try a search and you might find their info. If not then we have plenty of sponsors in Houston or DFW area, look to the right. ----->
Since you have an A4 you will need a tune no doubt about it. If you install the heads later on then you would gain some more power with a re-tune, and most shops will charge you another fee to get re-tuned. Not the same fee as a full tune though.
If you can, do the heads and cam at the same time. Save some time and money that way, IMHO.
The dyno tune is really worth it, you will pick up some power and kill any kind of lean/rich (knock) issues that you might have.
I think a few Houston sposnors have a sale/GP going on. MTI has a cam GP going on right now. Check them out.
