Am I misunderstanding this?

The way I read it was that starting Sept.1 vehicles will receive 1 plate and that is to be attached at the rear of the car.

I got pulled over a few weeks ago for no front plate. The officer told me the front plate law did not pass; and even if it did, it wouldn't take effect until Sept. 1st.

Mine will remain off regardless. I might put it on for long trips where Trooper's usually patrol, like up 45, 290, etc. In town, I try to stay away from freeways and such.

No, two license plates will be required on all vehicles.

its been confirmed by two people i know that "a vehicle registered after 9.1.05 will no longer require a front plate" as they(DPS) will only issue one plate if you by new ones. any vehicle registered before 9.1.05 will be required to display both front and rear plates. officer of pasadena and a lawyer confirmed this for me.

Thats not the story coming from my state representative. Not saying its not true, just know what I have been personally told.

I guess someone needs to buy a new vehicle and see how many plates you get issued.

I just got new plates issued yesterday (to an older car though) and they gave me 2 plates. So this law doesnt pertain to older cars getting new plates, thats for sure.

If I remember right it's now illegal for anyone under 18 to talk on a cell phone while driving. Not like they'll be driving any better , but it's better than nothing.

I think the law says anyone under 18 with less than 6 months driving experience can't talk on a cell phone. I'll try to verify.

Yea, it might have said that about the 6 months. I barely remember going over it in class.

Also check out HB2257...80mph speed limit in some rural Texas counties.
