correct, you do not need full coverage on ANY car if it is paid off. Only liability, and that should be about the same no matter what you drive. It doesn't go up too much between engine sizes.

My first two cars I ever owned only had liability insurance. I paid cash for both cars

Well if hes got his sights set on an F body, how about a 3rd gen (no they aren't as fast as a 4th gen generally) but the insurance is cheaper (not considered a sports car anymore), they have some style, and if you get the 350 TPI they are plenty quick especially for a 16 year old. I'd have a big problem letting the average 16 yo behind the wheel of a 300+ hp F body, they'd likely end up wrapped around a tree, yes I know not all 16 yo kids are not maniacs behind the wheel, but enough are that it would make it very hard to let a 16 yo drive a 4th gen

My first car was a 69 Camaro. See, isn't that more refreshing to hear?
68 Camaro was my first car.... MY second car was another 68 Camaro... 3rd was the Hawk.....

They are rare around here.... but when we went to N. TX around Amarillo there are a lot there that are cheap and in ok condition.... I learned a lot about the SBC through those cars....
