When going from 2nd to 3rd gear:
Have your hand on the back of the shift ****, holding slight pressure against it in gear, when the clutch is released aim your hand towards the passenger side headlight and release clutch again when its in gear
When you have good drivetrain parts (ie clutch that holds like a Spec Stage 3, Ram VDS, etc) you can do all of this all while keeping your foot buried in the gas...IE Power shifting. You'd be amazed at how many extra cars you put on your grudge racer friend just with this. You'll stay in the powerband and be there sooner to edge out your "buddy." Then when your clutch goes bad, you can call on me to replace that stocker with something of higher calibur.
