Trading in Texas
Trading in Texas Guys maybe you can help me, I am trading for a car in Texas but the guy has lost the title. Is there a safe way to do this in texas, any forms? We are trading even (my Range Rover for his Turbo lexus), I know there is a form I found online called the Texas Motor Vehicle Transfer Notification VTR-346 which looks like it will cover it.

In order to transfer a car you must have the title. Like TTU said, make him get a certified copy of the original. He can pick one of those up at; The Texas Department of Transportations, Vehicles Titles & Registration Department, District Offices. ITs a long title, i used to work for them.
its only 5 bucks, and if it has a lein holder, thats just another complication.
