Default Intake question

I took off the intake to put on the LS6, and when I pulled it off, I noticed that the intake ports were coated with like a black oil residue.

I'm wondering if this is a problem, shouldn't they be clean without any black oil residue on them? The opening of the intake had some brown oily stuff as well.

Alright, I did some research... its just oil consumption from the valve covers. I know some people have changed PCV's, but I really don't feel like dremling on the block.

If it's a high mileage car, then it's normal to see some oil.

All LS1's will eat some oil, some more then others. You will see them eating oil brand new with very low miles.

The oil you see is your PCV sucking oil into your intake right behind your throttle body. The best thing you can do is buy a catch can.

Peace,
Craig.
