Default Transmission Problems

I tried searching but nothing fit my problem. Maybe I'm just searching wrong...anyway. I left Lowe's and start down the feeder. At about 25 or 30 mph I get on it to get around a few cars and get on the freeway. The tranny downshifts and then I get a bang/pop metallic sound. The revs then go really high. So I slow down and ease over to a side street where I stop. I try taking off and the car won't shift out of first and there is no reverse.

I know the tranny is now probably toast but just need some ideas. I'm gonna call my warranty service tomorrow and have it towed in.

The general rule with stock automatics is if they start to act up, they are probably gone. How many miles do you have ? Check the fluid, see what it looks like, if it is not cherry red, it's time for a rebuild.
