Pettite is an offspeed pitcher, he relies on groundball outs and lazy pop fly outs, he gets them in groves, he's Top 3 all time in the post season, maybe 2nd all time i forget, but he's right there with Koufax and Seaver as far as win pct. post season

when you pitch to induce outs, you're naturally going to allow a few base runners, he may not have been on his A game yesterday, but he had a hell of an outing, 2 runs through 7 2/3, i'll take that any day of the week in a game that we can go to the WS if we win.

the Cardinals have seen Lidge probably upwards of 40 times in 2 years, they're used to his stuff, they've seen it, but Garner loves to get Lidge the ball with the lead, with good reason, but i might let Wheeler throw 2 or 3 in Game 6 if i'm Garner, maybe let him close the 9th out, he looked great yesterday.

Oswalt is probably the best chance to get them to the World Series. Clemens needs to get charged up, I feel for his loss of his mother, but we need him bad!!! He did pitch his heart out the day she passed away.
Here is a quote from Astros.com:"Things have changed for me over the last couple of weeks," said Clemens, who finished his 21st big-league season with 341 wins, ninth on the all-time list and only one behind Tim Keefe, a 19th century right-hander. "There's a big part of my heart missing now with my mother [gone], but that's just the way it is. I knew that I pitched for her, but I didn't realize how much I did."
One more win Astros, give us one more win!!!!

I must admit - I felt ill last night after whats his face cranked it. That was one of the hardest shots I have seen hit in a while. I wished we would have ended it last night, but oh well - I get to see one of my all time favorite pitchers pitch again tomorrow night

I honestly did not think pettitte did much in this game and he also did not show me much in game 1. Injuries may cause some effect but if your hurting, go sit down and let another step up...

Pettitte did fine - he held them to a "reasonable" score. You do have a point, however because we do have a great bullpen. The problem is that it doesn't look like it matters all that much from last night. Still hurtin, from it, but man it's gonna be a loooong time until tomorrow at 6!

He allowed 2 runs from one of the best offensive teams in MLB. He did just fine.

Pettitte pitched just fine. He only had 1 bad inning. Lidge hung that slider out in the heart of the plate and Pujols made us pay. Had that slider broke we would be talking about how kickass the Astros are.

I think now that Carpenter can't pitch in 6 or 7 we will win one of those games. Oswalt or Clemens will get us a win.

Some of you guys have jumped off the bandwagon entirely too fast.

Who's saying LaRussa wont pitch Carpenter in game 7 if it gets that far, i could see it happening. It better not get to a game 7 though.

If Carpenter pitches in Game 7 it would only be for an inning or two. After throwing as many pitches as he did his arm just won't be able to handle it.

Astros have also been trampled by the braves in every odd year except for this one. So much for history...

What about the 1st loss? How many did they score against Pettitte that game?

They were hitting just about everything he was throwing, Oswalt is who im going with.

You bring the knife, I'll setup the altar and bust out the drinking straws.
