Whats up with Lidge???
i say give him a couple more shots, look what he did for us last year. He gave up a hit to the best hitter (by percentage) tonight and then ensberg throws away an easily playable ball. If anybody i say Wheeler should be closing.
He is going thru what the Rangers Coco Cordero was going thru, a mental breakdown. They need to give Lidge some setup work or some days off then back to closing. Hell look what has happened to Billy Wagner in NY.

Part of what I see as the problem is he isn't locating his fastball, so he relies on his slider a lot more. Last year, he had great accuracy with his fastball, and the slider kept the hitters off balance. This year, he throw three sliders in a row. Major league hitters can crush a slider if they know it's coming.

Holy Crap!!!!! No Kool-Aid drinkers here. Finally, people that "see" what is going on with Lidge. The rest of the boards are filled with a bunch of Lidge Disciples who refuse to see the truth...Lidge has sucked all year and was slowling fading away towards the end of last season.
He absolutely can't locate his slider, and his fastball is meat. No major league batter has a problem getting around on a non-movement 95mph fastball.
I would say he is just going through a slump of badluck, but he obviously has issues. The hits he allows aren't blooping singles. They are drives to the outfield usually resulting in extra-bases...That's if he doesn't just give them the base by walking them.

it is a long season and last year alot of you gave up on the Astros in July and look where they ended up. Lidge just needs to be pulled from the closer role for a week or so to get his head right with ball. He will be fine and Houston fans will be back on his testes soon enough !!!

I was referring to all the callers on 610AM when I was living there, all of them where just wagon jumpers. I am not saying everyone is like that but it seems to be that way with all the teams, and yes I know it is like that everywhere I am just stating this point.
