Got my Mustang back on the road after its been sitting for awhile needing some repairs. The inspection went out 4 months ago, and the registration expired in Apr 2005.

Im sitting on Hwy 6 infront of Whataburger by west road, and a State Trooper passes me. Sure enough he busts around on me, so I go ahead and pull into the parking lot next to Whataburger.

Black guy gets out, Im thinking "Great, Black Knight, im fucked"(I have no cats, and my car is pretty loud, so its obvious) First thing he asks is "What ya got done to this thing man? Sounds like you done some work."

I dont say a word, just hand him my DL and CHL. He looks it over and hands back my CHL without saying a word. He starts talking about my Reg and Insp being out. So I inform him that I just fixed the car, and this the first time Ive had it out, and Im working on getting that done. Then I tell him ive already had a pretty damn bad day along with the story of how I found my 88GT's window busted out this morning, and how someone at a shop sabotaged my car and burned up my window motor on this one.

So he's pretty cool, starts talking about his 89 Mustang and his son's 91 mustang.

He comes back with a warning, and starts asking me about what mods Ive done again. I ask him if he's got a Corvette, and he says "No, thats my buddy Rich. He patrol's this area too. They sent him to motor school so he looks for cats and all that stuff"

I say " Yeah, everyone knows all about him. We call him the Black Knight. He's busted just about every guy around here with an F-body for no cats etc. He's pretty infamous around here"

The cop laughs and shakes my hand, and thanks me for the pleasant attitude. He tells me he wants to hear it when I take off. I crank it up, and right before I go to take off, he gets back out of his car and stops me. The Trooper pulls out his cell phone, and says "Hey Rich! Whats up mayne! Mayne, I got this guy here that says they call you the Black Knight around here. Says you be pullin' over all them fbodies and stuff. Hey, man-tell what this dude got on here"

He he puts the cell phone at the back of my car and tells me to rev on it! So I give it a couple good revs at the phone. He puts the phone back to his ear. ".......Yeah, its a Mustang. Whats he got done mayne, whats he got goin' on under this thing" Then he starts laughing, and I roll out, giving it a little gas on the way out.

LOL WTF

Cliff notes: State Trooper pulls me over, gives me a warning, and then calls his buddy "The Black Knight" and has me rev my car at him through the phone.

**** yeah! He handed back my CHL and didnt say a word, so I said "You looked at this didnt you? I am armed." He says "So am I! Besides, it aint you we worried about."

I thought that was pretty cool. Some cops will generally disarm. He showed no visible concern that I was carrying a gun.

But now Im afraid the Black Knight is going to be lookin for me

I got pulled over by that guy too, he was really nice and seemed to have a genuine interest in cars. So yes, there are some good ones out there.

 

Some cops will let you off with a warning when you hand them your CHL just for the fact that the background check is far more in depth than most.

that sounds like the trooper that pulled me over for doing 130+ on the bike. He said he knew what it was like on a bike... gave me a warning and told me I didn't have to drive the speed limit... but be reasonable.

 

We need more cops like that up here. I don't think I'd have gotten away with that. My car is loud as ****.
