antenna problem
antenna problem my stupid antenna went out tonight 
it makes this horrid sound everytime it would normaly go up and down, and is stuck in the "up" position! The sound isnt THAT bad but to me ANYTHING wrong or making annoying noises isnt cool with me. So my first question is...is there anything i can do myself to fix it....is there a way to just "un-plug" it so it just doesnt work...cuz i only realy use my CD player anyway
~my secon question is, if i try to use my radio with the antenna "un-plugged" will it be realy staticy???
~and thirdly...do they make the shorty antenna (looks rubber and isnt power controlled) for the 4th gen TA's...i saw one on a camaro...so i guess they would but just thot id ask, and where could i get one???

Mine did this a few years back and what it is is the part that makes it go up and down is a long plastic gear and it breaks. You can buy just the gear and its not that much and not that hard to fix it.
But as for unplugging it I do believe it has a power connector but because the gear is broken off I don't think you will be able to just push it back down. You will have to take it out and take it apart and take the gear out to get it to go down. And I don't know what the reception will be like.

Mine broke a while ago. Same thing....nasty grinding sound. I just unplugged the motor and left the antenna up. I would like to find another motor or simply delete the antenna all together. Either way my reception wasn't affected.

hagarr - Its not the motor its the plastic gear. It really is an easy and cheap fix.
Maybe we need to have a FIX OUR ANTENNA get together. Maybe we can get a deal on the part if we buy a few of them

lol sounds good to me...do you think you can just flip the gear to where the teeth arent gone??....kinda like on the headlights...but you said its long...so im guessing its not round....hmm...well i guess i have myself a little project today wish me luck
