He put stalls in the john, for one. Before Greg got the track, you simply did NOT "sit down" at the track. (not that I ever did anyway, but those TADburgers can be awful greasy... ya never know).

He also redid the turnaround, and had a new jet dryer. Was also trying weeknight test n tunes. And the lights worked.

The bleachers still needed work last time I was there.

I never saw ANY facilities changes under Linda before Greg got the track. Little steps were at least being made, as money allowed.

There were immediate, noticeable, and significant improvements as soon as the Duffields took over.

1. Track prep became WAAAAY better. I cut 60' times that I never dreamed I could at TAD during the couple trips out there while Greg was running things.

2. The staff began wearing uniforms, headsets, and was better organized.

3. The rest rooms suddenly had soap and paper towels and looked like they'd been actually cleaned.

4. Greg and Doc gave the impression that they actually gave a **** about what racers thought. You didn't get that from Linda.

I agree, Linda treats that place like ****, but i dont think either of them did a very good job of up-keeping that place.
The crappers on the otherside of the track lost lighting while Greg was there, and still hasnt been fixed in over a year. Speaking of crappers, and off topic- who the hell designed the "trough" style urinal. I dont know about other people, but I dont like having urine splash go on my legs, along with piddling 2 inches away from another guy..
But back on topic- I love how Greg fixed the turn around, and then decided to leave it uncleaned, so when you circle around, you get to kick up rocks and get them wedged in your tires..
Maybe i missed it, but what was your side of the story for Greg giving the track back to Linda?

*edit*
That track has definate potential, maybe not as a 1/4 mile track, but definately as an 1/8th mile track.. Someone with brains just needs to shut it down for a few months, strip it clean, put fresh CONCRETE and not asphalt down, rebuild the bleachers and fix the parking situation. Then they could easily charged $20 a pop to race..

Its in a dream state now, but if we had to money to do it, and enough interest from the public, we would do it in a heartbeat..
Temple Academy's location is cool, kind of the "backroad" strip, but the land is way to short to have any decent cars run out there with confidence..
figure about $2 per square foot for asphalt and $3 per ft on concrete, plus concrete guard rails, plus a lot of other crap that really adds up fast!

Too much to type here. Bottom line is she tried to change the deal mid-way through. She handed them some cooked books to make the track look like it was making money (it wasn't, not under her "leadership") and then later demanded that they cough up more $ to pay off debt that was held in the name of the business.

hell yeah. Killeen is waaaaay ghetto these days. It was bad when I lived there, but much worse now. (Still have friends and former neighbors etc. that I keep in touch with).

Home burglaries and car break ins are through the roof.

The track was never great, but it was local and I enjoyed racing there. I probably went there close to 80 times from 1996-1999. After Clifford died, Linda couldn't/didn't run it worth a ****.

Doc and Greg Duffield tried to buy it from her. They actually had "possession" of the track for a short time and made some big improvements. Linda tried to swindle them and they had to turn the track back over to her. Now, it's back to being run like ****.

I may incur some flames for my opinion, but I know everyone involved and feel my depiction is pretty accurate.

Hey guy from Giddings: go to SAR.
Sorry I've been away for a few days, Reading though all those previous posts, I have learned alot. So where is SAR? Im guesssing that is San Antonio Raceway? Where is it and how far away from Giddings? I like going to Temple because I know where it is, but I didnt know all that stuff about the ownership problems, I wish I had the money and lived near it I would buy it and completly redo it. Maybe If I win the LOTTO.

Greg's side of the story is all posted over on the NTAC web site. Just search for his username (which happens to be Greg Duffield).

Heck, Greg even had the TAD web site rocking. There was a message board, and live internet radio feed from the track. Yes, I did listen to it once or twice just for grins. Worthless radio, but still, kinda cool. All that's gone.

VHT, good communication, good attitude.

I'm alot more likely to go to a track that might not be the best in the area, but the owners are doing everything they can to make it the best it can be; than a track where the owner knows it sucks, and makes it even worse by not doing anything, and being a bitch to the racers who are the reason the track still exists.

No, I know who your talking about though. Its got a H/C, TNT 75 shot, gears, and a stall. I think he was running 12.2s w/o the nitrous when I last saw him.
Mine is NBM.. Its no where near setup for this track, I'd prolly hit the wall with my lil 10.5 rinky dink tires I have
